X: The Musical

[our scene begins on a dark and clear night, where Tokyo Tower can be seen backlit by a full moon. Despite the logical improbabilities, a figure in a school uniform and a vampire cape can be seen standing on top of the pointy bit at the top. Most people seem not to notice, milling about, but a few people onstage, the DRAGONS, turn and look towards the figure]
[heavy metal chords start up]
[SONG: MOTHER, I HAVE RETURNED TO TOKYO]

DRAGONS: "Look, there in the sky-"

DRAGONS: "Could it be?"

DRAGONS: "Is it he?"

DRAGONS: "Kamui-!"

KAMUI: [speak-singing] "Yes, I have returned. I have returned... to TOKYO!"

[KAMUI runs to the edge of the nearest I-beam and leaps off, cloak billowing dramatically]

KAMUI: [singing with the music] "Mother / I have returned / That's right / mother / I'm full of woe / here in Tokyo-"

[KAMUI passes, inexplicably, in front of a large billboard advertisement.]

KAMUI: "Don't know why I came / I won't take no blame / I'm full of hate / heading for fate / here in Tokyo-"

[KAMUI lands on a rooftop of a building and runs for a while, leaping from building to building while the bridge plays. Below, the DRAGONS dance, milling among the unaware, cow-like normal humans]

DRAGONS: "Is it he / could it be / is it he / could it be/ is it he-"

KAMUI: [singing overtop] "She told me to, so / I had to go / had to return to Tokyo-!"

[The music suddenly quiets. KAMUI sits off the edge of a building and sings, soft and mournful]

KAMUI: "Mother / What can I do without you? / Your firey death was no coincidence / it must have been fate-"

[He tilts his head back, dramatically silhouetted against the moon]

KAMUI: "And it's aaall tooo laaaaaaaaaaaaaaaate / for you-"

[And now he leans forward, darkly and evilly shadowed]

KAMUI: "You told me what must b'done / in the middle of your combustion-"

[and leaps forward, into the air, as the heavy metal cords come back in, hard]

Kamui: "I must return / I have returned!"

DRAGONS: [singing and dancing] "He has returned / don't know why he came / he has returned / won't take no blame-"

KAMUI: [simultaneously] "I have returned / I'll take my fate / I have returned / I'll rise to the bait-"

TOGETHER: "For Kamui / has / RETURNED!"

[the scene shifts to a small rundown temple where two youths are clambering out of their beds.]

KOTORI: [faints]

FUUMA: [rushes over to her] "Kotori! Kotori, it's okay, it's not mother, it's just your bed!"

KOTORI: [coming to] "Oh, Fuuma... I had a dream..."

FUUMA: "A dream?"

[SONG: Kotori's Dream]

KOTORI: "I dreamed / that Kamui / has returned-"

FUUMA: "Kamui returned! / But he's been away / for many long years-"

KOTORI: "Returned! / But not the Kamui / for whom we've yearned-"

FUUMA: "So many years / not heard a word / despite all our tears-"

KOTORI: "A different Kamui! / and then beside / a second is had-"

FUUMA: "Kamui in two! / and yet for so long / I've lacked the luck-"

KOTORI: "And each reach out / to take a sword / Kamui good, Kamui bad-"

FUUMA: "To have even *one* / who I could hold / who I could fuck-"

KOTORI: [suddenly cheerfully chanting] "Good Kamui, Bad Kamui! Good Kamui, Bad Kamui!"

FUUMA: [ditto] "A boy to hold / a boy to fuck / a boy to hold / a boy to fuck-"

KOTORI: [still doing so] "Good Kamui, Bad Kamui! Good Kamui, Bad Kamui!"

FUUMA: [ditto] "A boy to hold / a boy to fuck / a boy to hold / a boy to fuck-"

KOTORI: [stops singing, staring at Fuuma like she just listened to what he was saying] "...Brother?"

FUUMA: "...It was a silly dream. Get ready for school, Kotori."

KOTORI: "Yes, Brother."

[FUUMA turns away, face pensive. KOTORI turns away, and faints.]

[And as the scene shifts away to a lair below the Diet Building, this author draws the curtain to a close.]
