"It's stupid," Michael said.
"It's a *metaphor*," Litheroy explained, a bit offended.
Michael crossed his arms and gestured with his chin at the TV-screen. "Yeah, well, news for ya, Litheroy; it's a *stupid* metaphor."
Litheroy looked at the TV, with its hero and his watermelon t-shirt; he looked at the talking salt and pepper shakers, he looked at the very large, odd dog. "It's a metaphor for the human labyrinth," he explained further, hoping it will help. "They make everything into something living and obscuring or helping them, and they have to track down the resultant hints that will lead them to eventual realization and enlightenment. The dog is obviously a spiritual creature, then, helping our hero - our everyman, as it were - discover the truth about his surroundings and himself. This will eventually destroy the labyrinth and lead humanity to discover the greater Truth in God!"
Eyebrow quirking, Michael glanced from Litheroy to the TV and back. He snorted. "Yeah, Litheroy. You keep thinking that." He patted Litheroy sympathetically and headed out.
Sadly, Litheroy turned back to the TV. "It *is* a metaphor," he mumbled. Soon, the soothing lull and chatter of the TV helped cheer him up again, and when the hunt for enlightemment and greater being began, he sang along, "We're all looking for Blue's clues, and it's a real fun time!"
